Sustained: The Medical Weight Loss Method
Weight Loss Medications · Telehealth AU-wide
Nutrition support designed to work
alongside your medication
Designed to protect muscle. Support fat loss.
Weight loss medications are designed to create the conditions for weight loss - reducing appetite, limiting intake, and shifting how your body uses energy. But that same environment doesn't distinguish between fat and muscle. Muscle loss during rapid weight loss is well-documented in the clinical literature, and it's one of the key reasons targeted nutrition support is an important part of treatment. Sustained is a 6-month clinical program built around your medication, your data, and your body.

The problem with medication alone

Protect your muscle.
Lose the fat.
You're on medication, eating less, showing up - but something still feels off. Maybe the weight is coming off alongside muscle. Maybe you've hit a plateau, you're navigating it without much guidance, or you're thinking ahead to what happens when the medication changes.
Muscle loss
A calorie deficit without targeted nutrition support can contribute to muscle loss alongside fat - and that has implications for your long-term metabolic health.
?
No structure
Medication reduces appetite but doesn't tell you what to eat, when to eat, or how much protein you need to stay strong.
Progress plateaus
Without data you're estimating. DEXA and pathology and CGM tracking gives you and your dietitian a clearer picture of what's happening - so adjustments are based on your individual results, not assumptions.

Medical weight loss is more complex than medication alone. Targeted nutrition support is a clinically important part of the process.

The framework

Built around your data.
Built around you.
The Strong + Sustain Method
Three interconnected pillars that bring together clinical data, targeted nutrition, and behaviour change support - for a structured approach that extends beyond the program itself.

Sustain
Confidence beyond the program
  • Behaviour change support
  • Habit systems + routines
  • Transition + maintenance planning
  • GP + medical team advocacy

Who it's for
This program was built for you if...
You're on Ozempic, Wegovy, or Mounjaro and want nutrition support focused on muscle maintenance during weight loss - not just appetite suppression alone
You're losing weight but concerned about muscle loss - and you want objective data to give you a clearer picture of your body composition
You've hit a plateau, feel like you're doing everything right, and need someone to actually dig into the data and work out what's going on
You want nutrition guidance that fits your real life - not a rigid template - and a clinician who provides consistent support throughout your treatment
What's included
Six months. Eleven inclusions.
One clinical plan.
A comprehensive, clinician-led program - every component chosen to support your nutrition throughout medical weight management.
01
DEXA body composition scans x 2
Objective data on what's changing
Baseline at program start and follow-up at 6 months. Tracks fat, muscle, and bone - so recommendations are informed by your individual data, not just the scale.
02
Comprehensive pathology x 2
Understanding what to monitor and address
Full metabolic panel at start and end of program. Identifying nutritional factors we can address and monitor throughout your program.
03
90-minute initial consultation
A comprehensive clinical picture, in one session
DEXA and pathology reviewed in full - then we go further. Your eating patterns, lifestyle habits, and the practical realities of your day-to-day are just as important as your scan results. Personalised nutrition targets developed from both your clinical data and your practical reality.
04
Results interpretation + recommendations
No guesswork, no jargon
Detailed written interpretation of all your results with personalised recommendations before we meet - so you come in informed, not overwhelmed.
05
30-minute follow-ups (months 2 to 5)
Consistent support across your program
Four check-in consultations across the program to review progress, adjust targets, and keep things moving - even when life gets in the way.
06
60-minute final review
A clear plan of what comes next
Program close-out consultation - review your full data journey, progress made, and a long-term maintenance plan to support what you've worked towards.
07
CGM (2-week sensor)
See how your body responds in real time
Continuous glucose monitoring to understand how your body responds to food, movement, and stress - so adjustments are informed by your data, not assumption.
08
Exercise physiology session
Movement planning integrated with your nutrition
Resistance and movement planning integrated with your nutrition throughout your program - not separate from it.
09
Between-session messaging support
Direct access between appointments
Direct access to Ashleigh for questions and accountability between appointments - responses within 48 hours on business days.
10
Private client resource hub
Your own clinical library, built as you go
Relevant guides, meal frameworks, tracking tools, and handouts uploaded directly to your personal portal throughout your program - based on your individual needs, not a one-size-fits-all content pack.
11
Supplement review + practitioner-only access
Clinical-grade supplements, prescribed to you
A clinical review of your current supplements based on your pathology and individual needs - with access to practitioner-only, therapeutic-grade formulations that aren't available over the counter. If supplementation is indicated, you'll receive a personalised prescription rather than a generic shelf recommendation.

Common questions
Everything you need to know
How long is the program?
+
Six months - long enough to build a meaningful picture of your body composition changes, and structured enough to support consistent progress the whole way through. This isn't a short course. It's a clinical program designed to support sustainable nutrition habits.
Who will I work with?
+
You work directly with Ashleigh Gale, Accredited Practising Dietitian and program creator, for the full six months. All consultations are delivered by Ashleigh - not delegated to another clinician. You'll also be referred to an accredited exercise physiologist, with your initial appointment included in the program.
Is this program only for people on GLP-1 medication?
+
Yes - this program is designed specifically for people on GLP-1 medication such as Ozempic, Wegovy, or Mounjaro, or other prescribed weight loss medications. If you have had bariatric surgery or are preparing for it, visit the Bariatric Surgery page for information on the right support pathway for you.
I'm already paying for GLP-1 medication. Is this on top of that?
+
Yes, the program is a separate investment to your medication costs. Weight loss medication changes your appetite and energy intake - this program provides the clinical nutrition structure to support what happens alongside that change. Without targeted nutrition support, muscle loss is a well-documented concern during rapid weight loss on GLP-1 medication - and that can have implications for metabolic health and long-term weight maintenance.
What does the DEXA scan actually tell us?
+
Much more than the scale ever could. A DEXA scan is a 10-15 minute, non-invasive body composition scan that measures your fat mass, lean muscle mass, and bone density - broken down by region of your body. Critically, it also gives us your resting metabolic rate (RMR) - how many calories your body burns at rest - which is the foundation for setting accurate, personalised nutrition targets. Without this data, calorie and protein recommendations rely on population-based formulas. With it, recommendations are grounded in your individual measurements - giving us a more accurate starting point and clearer reference for adjustments as you progress.
What does the pathology testing cover?
+
A comprehensive blood panel covering metabolic, hormonal, and nutritional markers - including fasting glucose, insulin, lipids, thyroid function, iron studies, vitamin D, and more. It's a comprehensive clinical panel that helps identify what's influencing your body's current state and what nutritional factors we can address to support it. Ashleigh provides a written interpretation of your results before your initial consultation so you arrive informed and ready.
What is a CGM and why is it included?
+
A CGM (continuous glucose monitor) is a small sensor worn on the arm for 2 weeks that tracks your blood sugar in real time. For people on GLP-1 medication, understanding your glucose response is particularly valuable - it provides real-time data on how your body responds to different foods, meal timing, stress, and exercise. The patterns we identify in your CGM data are used to inform your nutrition plan in a way that population-based advice alone cannot.
What does this program include that a standard consultation doesn't?
+
This program combines 1:1 clinical nutrition, DEXA body composition data, comprehensive pathology, CGM, exercise physiology, behaviour change support, and GP advocacy - all coordinated by one practitioner over six months. It is a structured, data-led model of care built specifically for the nutritional complexity of medical weight loss, rather than a standalone consultation service.
Do I need to be local to Melbourne?
+
Not at all. The program is delivered entirely via telehealth so you can join from anywhere in Australia. DEXA scans, pathology, and your exercise physiology session are all arranged at providers near you - Ashleigh coordinates the referrals and logistics so you don't have to figure it out yourself.
What are my payment options?
+
Three options: pay in full ($3,500 - saving $310), deposit plus 3 payments ($1,200 deposit then $870 at months 2, 4, and 6), or deposit plus monthly instalments ($1,200 deposit then $435/month for 6 months). All options include the full program - nothing is held back based on how you pay. We'll walk through these on your strategy call.
How quickly will I hear back between sessions?
+
Between-session messaging is responded to within 48 hours on business days. This is for clinical questions, check-ins, and nutrition adjustments - not for urgent medical concerns, which should always go to your prescribing doctor or medical team.
Do I need to follow a strict meal plan?
+
No rigid meal plans. The approach is built around flexible frameworks that work in real life - eating out, travelling, cooking at home, social events. This matters especially on GLP-1 medication, where appetite changes week to week. The goal is a structure that adapts with you, not a set of rules that fall apart the moment your appetite shifts.
What happens after the six months?
+
You finish with a second DEXA scan showing how your body composition has changed across the program, a full pathology review, and a 60-minute final session covering your results and long-term maintenance strategy. The goal is to leave with the knowledge, data, and practical frameworks to support your nutrition independently - whether you stay on medication long-term or transition off it.
